Bernie DeLord completed her training as a psychiatric nurse in 1987 and has worked in a variety of roles in mental health for the health service, adult social care and the voluntary sector since then. Bernie became interested in carers issues in New Zealand where a strong emphasis was on supporting carers wellbeing. When she returned to Cornwall in 2009 she met Jenny Tarvit. Jenny and Bernie worked with lots of carers trying to get back into employment and developed an interest in working in this area. They set up Promas caring for People as a community interest company (CIC) in 2013. Bernie is committed to her work and feels privileged to be able to help people to manage their caring role and to look after their own health and wellbeing.
